Travel-route for visa

We entered Uzbekistan 4 weeks ago also coming from Osh and did almost the same trip and we're back in Tashkent now. In Uzbekistan, no one will ever ask about your itinerary. So, that's ok.

This is how the border crossing went:

– The border is very close from Osh (10min Taxi ride)

– The border opens at 8am (officially). For us the Kyrgyz side opend at 8.15, the Uzbek side at 9am.

– There were just a dozen other local people waiting.

– They Kyrgyz side was quick and easy. They even take the tourists first.

– The Uzbek side was much easier than expected. After the passport control, you fill two copies of the customs declaration form (one is for you to keep when you leave the country). You declare everything valuable you have like cash, jewelry, cameras and laptops. After that, your bagage is screened. They ask you if you have any medicine with you. They open your laptop too and ask if you have any religious or pornographic material on your disks. Everything took about 10 minutes. After that you’re done.

– On the Uzbek side, there are taxi drivers waiting for you. They can take you to Tashkent or any other city in the Fergana Valley. We went to Andijan from there (Taxi about 50’000 SOM). Andijan is very nice and authentic place to visit.

If you want to hire a local driver in advance: we launched Indy Guide as an open marketplace for guides, tours and accommodations in Central Asia. You can compare prices and services and contact them directly if you have a question. Have a look: www.indy-guide.com

Let me know if you have more questions. Glad to help.

Have a great trip.
